BT Received The Highest Score for Extended Domestic Network Use Case in Gartner’s Report

BT received the highest score in Extended Domestic Network, one of the four use cases in Gartner, Inc.’s 2016 Critical Capabilities Report for Network Services in Asia Pacific. BT also progressed from last year’s scores in all four use cases. The report evaluates 14 providers against four critical capabilities (Managed MPLS VPN, Ethernet Services, Internet Access and Managed WAN optimisation/APM) with four different use cases measurements (Regional Network, Extended Domestic Network, Low-Latency Network and High-Capacity Network).

According to Gartner, “the needs of MNCs operating in Asia Pacific are evolving with changing trends. While the majority typically requires regional connectivity to all the major markets, very large MNCs now require deep domestic connectivity in emerging markets, such as China and India, where they have large or rapidly expanding operations. They also seek growth in new emerging markets, such as Cambodia and Myanmar or Pakistan and Bangladesh.” The report also shared that “for internet access, most providers provide gateways at one or two regional locations in Asia Pacific, but more enterprises now want to off-net in more locations to reduce the load on the MPLS network and to improve performance.”

Gartner also said that “network architects in MNCs must assess communications service providers’ services and capabilities to support their requirements in the region” and “select a provider that best suits their primary need, depending on whether it is for regional connectivity, extended domestic reach, low- latency service or high-capacity requirements.”
